Rome's people have made it the economic,
cultural, medical, and educational center of Northwest Georgia.
Those same people who have worked to make Rome a great place to
live, have consistently supported efforts to make the Rome City
School System one of the best in the State of Georgia and the
Southeast.
The Rome Board of Education and administration believe that
skilled teachers are the vital link in the learning process. The
Board is committed to providing an environment conducive to
learning and a comprehensive educational program to meet the needs
of each student.
Rome's people are proud of their community, with its scenic hills
and three rivers winding through the center of the community. Rome
is a modern city with a good selection of recreational and
cultural activities. Rome boasts the oldest symphony orchestra in
the south, the Rome Area Council for the Arts, an active little
theatre group, several museums, a new modern public library, and
fine arts exhibits.

publication as one of the top tennis communities in America.
Located only an hour's drive from Atlanta, Georgia to the south
and Chattanooga, Tennessee to the north, Rome has a population of
30,000. It is the county seat of Floyd County, which has a total
population of 80,000.
Rome's school system, which serves city residents, has
approximately 5,000 students in pre-school through grade 12. The
system, with eight elementary schools, one middle and one high school,
and an alternative school, has more than 600 employees.
As the economic hub of Northwest Georgia, Rome
has much to offer newcomers. It has recreational facilities,
shopping, cultural advantages, churches, medical care, and of
