Helpful Resources for Locating Information

Body Systems Reports
 

COMPUTER RESOURCES:

1) http://www.thinkquest.org/pls/html/think.library 

-    Type “Body Systems”, “Nutrition”, or “Food and Health” in the “Search” bar.

-      Follow the steps to get to your topic from there.

2) GALILEOhttp://www.galileo.usg.edu (the password is "withhold")

-    Click on the red “Browse by Subject” tab at the top.

-      Click on “Health and Medicine” in blue and select your topic from the drop-down menu.

-      You will see a list of articles and other types of resources on your topic.

-      OR you can just click on the “Search” tab at the top and type in your topic. Then, look at the articles that appear.

3) NUTRITION -

-      Type in your topic in the “Search” bar or you can browse the list of topics in the left-

     hand.

-   Look under “Nutrition Topics” and click on the links below that are for the topic you

    need.   

http://www.calorieking.com/foods/

-   Click on the food from the list to find out the calorie information for it.

-   Click on “Resources and Tools” at the top for more nutrition topics.  

4) BODY SYSTEMS/HEALTH -

    http://www.innerbody.com

    -   Click “Enter Here” and then select the body system you are researching.

-   Click on the labels in the body system to read more about that part. 

   http://www.fi.edu/learn/heart/systems/systems.html -

    -   Click on the body system you are researching and read the information.  

   http://health.nih.gov/

    -   Click on the topic that you are researching.

     
5) Encarta Encyclopedia

-     Click on the blue “Encarta” icon on the desktop of your computer.

-      Type in your topic in the search bar and wait for your information to appear.  

 

BOOK RESOURCES:  

You can look on the cart of pulled books or click on “Safari” on the desktop and search other books in the library. You can also use the print encyclopedias.
