Welcome to

Rome High School

Dear Visitor,

I want to welcome you to the web site and “Home of the Wolves” – Rome High School. I hope these pages serve you as an introductory guide to the excellent school that is Rome High School.

Rome High School’s mission is to “graduate all students prepared for college or work”. That mission is one the faculty and staff take to task daily and one they have had success with as well.

Last year alone, the seniors of Rome High School were offered over 3.5 million dollars in scholarships over and beyond the HOPE scholarship.

The last two years Rome High School was named as one of the “Best High Schools in America” by U.S. News & World Report. Only 1750 high schools out of 21,000 can claim that recognition. The Rome City Schools, whose only high school is Rome High School, ranked in the top five of school systems in Georgia in highest SAT scores five out of the last six years. In 2006, Rome City Schools was first in Georgia with a 1621. Rome High School has always scored over the national average on SAT scores and currently ranks 29th out of 354 high schools in Georgia in SAT scores with a 1585 average.

In the area of Fine Arts, our “Sound of the Seven Hills” band continually win Grand Master Championships and consistently earn superior ratings in all captions at competitions. The One-Act Play team won the Region 7AAAA Championship and placed fourth in the state in 2007 and our choral department placed twenty students in the All-State chorus as well this past year.

Athletically, Rome High School has won 17 state championships. The football Wolves have won six straight Region 7AAAA championships and played in the state semi-finals in 2009. Added to those accomplishments are Region 7AAAA championships from boys cross country, girl’s soccer, boys and girl’s tennis and other individual state and region championships.

I am proud to be the principal of Rome High School. It is an awesome responsibility and one I do not take lightly. The City of Rome is an outstanding community and Rome High School serves the community well.

My first principal as an administrator, and a true friend, once told me that “You cannot truly know what a home is like unless you walk inside of it”. I invite you to come into Rome High School. Come into our home to see what we are truly all about. You will not walk away disappointed once you see the faculty and students that make up the Wolves of Rome High School.

Sincerely,

J. Tygar Evans, Ed. D.

Principal
