Rome City Schools Pre-K Program
The Rome City Schools Pre-Kindergarten program is funded by the GA State Lottery, is governed by Bright from the Start, and is supplemented by the RCS District. PreK is a tuition-free program.
Our PreK program provides age-appropriate instruction and prepares students for a successful transition to kindergarten and beyond. Additionally, this nurturing environment addresses students’ academic, social/emotional, and physical needs while preparing them for kindergarten readiness.
This program is for children who are 4 years of age on or before September 1st of the school year in which the student begins PreK.
The following schools in our district have PreK programs:
Anna K. Davie Elementary
Elm Street Elementary
Main Elementary
West Central Elementary
West End Elementary
Enrollment for the RCS PreK program operates on a lottery-based, tiered system.
Tier I - applicants living in the school’s required attendance zone
Tier II - applicants living inside all attendance zones for Rome City Schools
Tier III - applicants living outside the attendance zones of Rome City Schools
To fill all available slots, Tier I applications are drawn first. If slots remain unfilled, Tier II applications will be drawn, followed by Tier III applications. All applications not drawn will be added to the school’s waitlist.
School employees:
*Children of teachers/employees of the respective school will be automatically accepted with proof of Georgia residency.
*Children of teachers/employees of RCS (not of the school) who are within the school’s zone of residency (Tier I) will be automatically accepted with proof of Georgia residency.
*Children of teachers/employees of RCS, otherwise categorized as Tier II or Tier III for a respective school, will be entered as Tier I applicants in the lottery process with proof of Georgia residency
