West End Elementary Principal Dr. Dennis Drummond recently completed the Georgia School Superintendents Association’s District Office Development Program. Drummond was one of 20-plus participants from around the state.

“I want to thank Dr. Holland, Dr. Lashley, and our school board for supporting and valuing professional learning. I appreciate the investment they made in me to be a part of this program and just helping me grow in my professional career,” Dr. Drummond says.

Drummond attended the program one weekend a month every month throughout the school year.

“The focus was on learning about the shifts from school-level leadership to district-level leadership. I learned things that are helpful to me as a school leader right now and ways I can support the school district,” he said.

GSSA’s District Office Professional Development Program is a one-year course of study designed to enhance the individual and collective leadership capacity of the district office while supporting the superintendent’s ability to accomplish system-wide goals. Program strands include strategic leadership, change leadership, interpersonal leadership, and organizational leadership.

The program is designed for members of the superintendent’s central office staff and principals.
