On Friday, October 29, faculty and staff at Anna K. Davie Elementary School surprised students with a special treat and fun STEAM activities in celebration of the Halloween holiday.
The threat of bad weather canceled the school’s scheduled fall festival for the evening, however, that didn’t stop AKD Principal, Felisha Jackson, and staff from celebrating with their students.
“Because today was school picture day, most kids chose to dress up in their Halloween costumes yesterday (Thursday),” explained Jackson. “So, because the theme of our fall festival was supposed to be ‘masquerade,’ we decided to continue with that idea today and have all students get creative and make their own special masquerade masks for this all-day event.”
Eager students wearing their homemade masquerade masks gathered into the cafeteria excited for Jackson and crew’s surprise of pizza, Halloween-themed cupcakes, and special bracelets that donned the phrase, “I am Success.”
Outside of the sweet treats, teachers had planned lots of fun Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math (STEAM) activities to continue with the excitement, which was evident all throughout the halls of AKD.
“I am just so glad we could still have fun with our students, while also showing them how much we appreciate them for all of their hard work,” smiled Jackson.
