This week, Kamran went head-to-head with 756 talented students from all across the great state of Georgia in the DECA Advertising Services Marketing competition, and guess what? He emerged as the CHAMPION, taking home 1st place! Kamran's journey to victory included tackling a marketing exam that featured a whopping 100 college-level questions on principles of marketing, business, and advertising. We couldn't be prouder of Kamran's remarkable accomplishments and the way he's showcased the excellence of Rome High School. Maribeth Futral Selected to Represent Rome City Schools on State Superintendent's Parent Advisory Council  Rome, GA - Rome City Schools proudly announces that Maribeth Futral, a dedicated parent and advocate for education, has been appointed to the State School Superintendent's Parent Advisory Council for her second term. This appointment by State School Superintendent Richard Woods highlights Mrs. Futral’s commitment to education and her outstanding contributions to the community.  The Parent Advisory Council, comprising 28 parents from various regions of Georgia, convenes regularly to collaborate with Superintendent Woods on crucial education matters throughout the year. This group plays a pivotal role in advancing the cause of parental and family engagement, fostering student achievement, and ensuring a robust educational experience for all Georgia students.  "Parents are an irreplaceable part of our education system,” Superintendent Woods said. “It’s critical that I receive their direct feedback on state policies and decisions. Year after year, the Parent Advisory Council is an invaluable resource for me. I congratulate the new members and look forward to working with them in the year ahead.”  Mrs. Futral's role on the State School Superintendent's Parent Advisory Council will involve providing valuable input on new policies, projects, and materials that directly affect students and their families in Rome and across Georgia. Serving as a trusted advisor, Maribeth will participate in multiple meetings with Superintendent Woods over the course of her second term.  In addition to her advisory role, Mrs. Futral will serve as an ambassador and disseminate the knowledge and insights gained from the Parent Advisory Council to the Rome City Schools community. This ensures that the collective wisdom and ideas generated from this partnership are effectively communicated and utilized in local educational contexts.  The first meeting of the State School Superintendent's Parent Advisory Council, which Mrs. Futral is set to attend, will convene in October, marking the beginning of a collaborative journey to shape the future of education in Georgia. Rome, GA – The Rome City School District is proud to announce the achievement and status of the Georgia School Boards Association’s (GSBA) 2023 Exemplary School Board recognition.   The recognition program is designed to showcase best practices in school governance and leadership. GSBA recognizes good school board governance to foster educational community cultures in order to advance student learning and achievement.  The Rome City School Board met and/or exceeded the criteria set forth by GSBA to earn the honor of a 2023 Exemplary Board. The criteria may be reviewed by clicking here for more information.  The GSBA Governance Team Recognition Program was developed by Georgia superintendents and board members based on the state board of education’s standards for effective governance to recognize exemplary leadership.  In 1998, the Georgia School Boards Association was one of the first school board associations in the nation to develop a program of standards for local boards of education.  The GSBA Board recognition program is a three-tiered program. This collaboration was presented to the Rome City Schools Board of Education on Tuesday by Superintendent Dr. Eric L. Holland and Dean of Bagwell College of Education Dr. Adrian Epps.  "At the core of our Strategic Plan lies the commitment to attract and retain highly qualified educators," noted Superintendent Dr. Eric L. Holland. "The program promises to not only enhance the professional capacity of our current teaching staff but also facilitate their growth as they seek advanced degrees."  In crafting the program, the school district conducted a comprehensive analysis of both local and statewide staffing data, identifying specific focus areas for educators. Program options for current teachers seeking advanced degrees include: Master of Arts in Teaching English Language Arts Math Science Special Education Teacher of ESOL Master of Education Early Childhood Education Instructional Technology Secondary & Middle Grades Special Education Teacher Leadership  Teacher of ESOL  To ensure that our educators have the support they need, Rome City Schools has allocated funds to assist with tuition costs, and KSU will waive application fees for program participants while also facilitating the formation of cohorts for the designated subject area courses.  Dr. Adrian Epps, Dean of the Bagwell College of Education, expressed his enthusiasm for this partnership, "The Bagwell College of Education places a high priority on forging partnerships that strengthen the teacher workforce and harness the potential of innovative curricula and research expertise.
