Rome City Schools is pleased to announce that Anna K. Davie and East Central elementary schools were recently recognized as PBIS Distinguished Schools.
The purpose of the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Distinguished School recognition is to identify schools that exemplify best practices in the implementation of PBIS. The level of distinction is based on the training the school has completed and the number of discipline referrals per year. Distinguished schools meet six out of six areas on the PBIS rubric.

Our faculty and staff have done an exceptional job to build and sustain a positive learning environment and school culture for all of our stakeholders,” East Central Principal Samantha Lindsey says. “We have an amazing team of teachers, paraprofessionals, custodians, office staff, cafeteria staff, front office staff, and administrators who do their part to ensure we implement PBIS consistently and with fidelity. Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, data-driven framework proven to reduce disciplinary incidents, increase a school’s sense of safety and support improved academic outcomes. More than 1,400 Georgia schools and 27,000 nationwide have been trained in PBIS. PBIS schools apply a multi-tiered approach to prevention, using disciplinary data and principles of behavior analysis to develop school-wide, targeted, and individualized interventions and supports to improve school climate for all students.
